لحظه ای که تخمک رسیده (بالغ)  از یکی از تخمدانها رها میشود. تخمک گذاری در وسط سیکل قاعدگی انجام میشود، یعنی تقریباً 14 روز قبل از شروع خونریزی ماهانه بعدی. این تنها زمانی در طول مدت سیکل قاعدگی است که اسپرم میتواند  تخمک را بارور کند.

The moment at which a ripe egg cell is released from one of the ovaries. Ovulation occurs in the middle of the cycle, about 14 days before the next menstrual period begins. It is the only time in the cycle when a sperm cell can fertilize an egg cell.
