Pill taken by a woman after sexual intercourse when she did not use contraception and does not want to get pregnant. Also called "morning-after" pill. The pill reduces the risk of getting pregnant but is not 100% reliable. The woman needs to take the emergencycontraceptive pill as soon as possible after sex, at most 3 days later. The emergency contraceptive pill is not a method of contraception.
