The man’s visible (external) sexual organs are:
The glans is the sensitive tip of the penis. The foreskin is wrapped around the glans. You can move the foreskin backwards and forwards. Some men are circumcised. They no longer have a foreskin, or part of the foreskin.
The urinary meatus lies in the glans.
Penis and scrotum
The penis has 2 functions:
- If the penis is soft: urine can leave the body through the penis;
- If the penis is hard (erection): semen can leave the body through the penis.
Semen and urine cannot leave the penis at the same time.
A man who is aroused can get an erection. The penis swells with blood. Men often have a hard penis when they wake up in the morning. This does not mean they are aroused.
During sexual intercourse, the hard penis enters the vagina (penetration).
Types of penises
The size and shape of the penis can vary. Some men have a large penis, others have a smaller one. Both the size of the erect penis and the non-erect penis can vary from man to man. Some men have a curved penis, others have a more straight one. The way the penis looks is not important for its functions or for good sex.

Glandul este vârful sensibil al penisului. Prepuțul acoperă glandul. Prepuțul se poate trage înainte și înapoi. Unii bărbați sunt circumciși. Prin urmare, ei nu mai au prepuț sau au doar o parte din prepuț.
Meatul urinar se află în gland.
Penisul și scrotul
Penisul are două funcții:
- Dacă penisul nu e în erecție: urina se poate scurge prin penis;
- Dacă penisul e în erecţie: lichidul seminal se poate scurge prin penis.
Lichidul seminal și urina nu pot fi eliminate din penis în același timp.
Un bărbat excitat poate avea o erecție. Penisul se umple cu sânge. Deseori, bărbații au penisul în erecție atunci când se trezesc dimineața. Acest lucru nu înseamnă că sunt excitați.
În timpul raportului sexual, penisul în erecție este introdus în vagin (penetrare).
Scrotul conține testiculele.
Tipuri de penisuri
Dimensiunea și forma penisului poate fi diferită. Unii bărbați au penisul mare, alții mic. Atât dimensiunea penisului în erecție, cât și dimensiunea penisului non-erect pot fi diferite de la un bărbat la altul. Unii bărbați au penisul curbat, alții îl au mai drept. Felul în care arată penisul nu este important pentru rolul său funcțional sau pentru calitatea contactului sexual.
