Një narkozë e plotë është mpirja e gjithë trupit. Trupi shtendoset dhe personi nuk ndjen asnjë dhimbje, nëse operohet. Është si në gjumë të thellë. Një narkozë e plotë duhet të bëhet nga një anesteziste/një anestezist. Një mjeke/mjek mbikëqyr gjumin. Pas operacionit përfundon edhe narkoza. Pacientja/pacienti zgjohet përsëri.

A general anaesthesia is an anaesthetic for the whole body. The body relaxes and the person feels no pain when operated on. It's like a deep sleep. A general anaesthesia must be administered by an anaesthetist. The doctor supervises the patient during sleep. After the operation the anaesthesia will wear off. The patient wakes up again.
