Anestezia generală presupune anestezierea întregului corp. Corpul se relaxează, iar persoana nu mai simte dureri când este operată. Este ca un somn adânc. O anestezie generală trebuie să fie făcută de un medicul anestezist  . Medicul supraveghează somnul. După operaţie se încheie şi narcoza. Pacientul se trezeşte.

A general anaesthesia is an anaesthetic for the whole body. The body relaxes and the person feels no pain when operated on. It's like a deep sleep. A general anaesthesia must be administered by an anaesthetist. The doctor supervises the patient during sleep. After the operation the anaesthesia will wear off. The patient wakes up again.
