PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) is een behandeling met hiv-medicijnen na onbeschermd seksueel contact, bij het gegronde vermoeden dat iemand daarbij eventueel is besmet. De behandeling verkleint het risico op infectie met hiv. De behandeling moet binnen 3 dagen na het risicovolle contact starten.

PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) is a treatment with HIVmedicines after unprotected sexual contact and the justified suspicion of possibly being infected. The treatment reduces the risk of an HIV infection. The treatment has to start within 3 days of the risky contact.
