معاینه برای تشخیص عفونتها و بیماریهای آمیزشی (STIs). دکتر سؤالاتی میپرسد و اندامهای جنسی، دهان و گاهی مقعد بیمار را معاینه می کند. دکتر از محل عفونتنمونه برداری میکند، خون میگیرد یا از بیمار میخواهد که نمونه ادرار بدهد و همه نمونه ها را برای بررسی بیشتر به آزمایشگاه میفرستد.

Examination to check if someone has sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The doctor asks questions and examines the sexual organs, mouth and sometimes the anus. The doctor takes a swab of the places that may be infected, takes blood or asks the person to urinate into a jar. The doctor sends all samples to a lab for further examination.
