El tratamientomédico puede curar la mayor parte de ITS o tratar los síntomas. Sin tratamiento, alguien con una ITS podría tener;
- dolor durante las relaciones sexuales;
- dificultades para quedar embarazada (infertilidad);
- determinados tipos de cáncer;
- inflamación;
- daño al corazón, los vasos sanguíneos, el cerebro y el sistema nervioso.
Si tiene una ITS y no está tratada, puede infectar a su compañero/a.
Hable con un médico si cree que puede tener una ITS.
Cuanto antes reciba tratamiento, menos graves serán las consecuencias de una ITS. Si recibe tratamiento de forma temprana, la mayor parte de las ITS pueden curarse o los síntomas pueden desaparecer, sin provocar daños duraderos a su salud.
Medical treatment can cure most STIs or treat the symptoms. Without treatment someone with an STI might have or get:
- pain during sexual intercourse;
- difficulties getting pregnant (infertility);
- certain types of cancer;
- inflammation;
- damage to the heart, blood vessels, brain and nervous system.
If you have an STI and are not treated, you can infect your partner.
Talk to a doctor if you think you may have an STI.
The sooner you are treated, the less serious are the consequences of an STI. If you get treatment early, most STIs can be cured or the symptoms can disappear, without lasting damage to your health.
