Las ITS son infecciones que se transmiten habitualmente a través de contacto sexual con alguien que tiene una ITS. Existen también otras formas de contraer una ITS.
ITS diferentes
Existen muchas ITS diferentes:
- clamidia;
- gonorrea;
- sífilis;
- hepatitis B;
- hepatitis C;
- herpes;
- VIH;
- VPH;
- verrugas genitales;
- sarna;
- tricomoniasis y
- ladillas, entre otras.
Los preservativos pueden protegerles a usted y a su compañero/a frente al VIH y reducir el riesgo de contraer una ITS. Las vacunas protegen contra algunas ITS, por ejemplo el VPH.
Tratamiento de ITS
La mayor parte de ITS pueden tratarse. Pueden curarse o sus síntomas pueden desaparecer. Las ITS pueden tener graves consecuencias para su salud si no recibe tratamiento. También puede infectar a otras personas.

Most STIs can be treated. They can be cured or their symptoms can disappear. STIs can have serious consequences for your health if you are not treated. You can also infect other people.
