La pornografía muestra o describe actos sexuales en imágenes, películas, dibujos o textos. Las personas pueden utilizar la pornografía para excitarse sexualmente. La pornografía se centra en el sexo y no suele reflejar los sentimientos.
Actualmente, muchas personas pueden acceder fácilmente a la pornografía, por ejemplo en Internet. Disfrutar con la pornografía y consumirla no es algo malo (siempre que no sea ilegal). A algunas personas les gusta la pornografía y a otras no.
El sexo en la pornografía y en la realidad
La pornografía puede tener contenidos muy diversos: es tan variada como las preferencias sexuales de las personas.
Sin embargo, el sexo que se muestra en la pornografía presenta a menudo diferencias con el sexo real en aspectos como los siguientes:
- Representación del cuerpo: a veces la pornografía muestra a personas con características corporales que se salen de lo normal. Por ejemplo, muchas veces aparecen mujeres con senos muy grandes y hombres con penes de gran tamaño.
- Representación de prácticas sexuales concretas: la pornografía puede mostrar prácticas sexuales que pocas parejas desearían probar realmente.
- Representación del comportamiento sexual en general: muchas veces, en la pornografía los hombres y las mujeres quieren y pueden mantener relaciones sexuales en todo momento, algo que no ocurre en la realidad.
La realidad es muchas veces distinta de lo que nos muestra la pornografía. Hable con su compañero o compañera para averiguar qué es lo que más les gusta a ambos en su vida sexual.
La pornografía y las leyes
En Alemania, con carácter general está permitido producir, difundir y consumir pornografía. Sin embargo, hay excepciones: por ejemplo, la ley prohíbe, producir, difundir y consumir pornografía infantil.
Pornography shows sexual behavior in pictures, films, drawings or texts. People can use pornography to arouse themselves sexually. The focus is on sex. Feelings are usually not shown.
Pornography is now easily accessible to many people – for example on the internet. It's okay if you like and use pornography as long as it is not illegal. Some people like pornography, others do not.
Pornography and sex in reality
The content of pornography can vary greatly. It is as diverse as people's sexual preferences.
The sex that is shown in the pornography, though, is often very different from reality. For example:
- Body parts: pornography sometimes shows people with unusually shaped bodies. Women, for example, often have very large breasts and men, very large penises. However, people with other body types are shown as well.
- Sexual practices: pornography can show sexual practices that few couples want to try themselves.
- Sexual behaviour: pornography often gives the impression that women and men can and want to have sex at any time, which, in fact, is not the case.
Reality is often very different than what pornography depicts. When you have sex, you can find out together with your partner what you both like the most.

Pornography and the law
In Germany it is generally permitted to produce, distribute and watch or look at pornography. But there are exceptions to this. For example, it is forbidden by law to produce, distribute and watch or look at child pornography.
