ENEnglish – STI testing
If you think you may have an STI, you can get tested by a doctor.
You can freely talk to the doctor. He/she needs to have as much information as possible to be able to help you. A doctor cannot give any information about you to anybody else. He/she is obliged by law to respect your privacy.
STI test
A test is done as follows:
- The doctor checks with you what kind of sex you had and will ask about any symptoms.
- The doctor examines your visible sexual organs, mouth and anus to check for symptoms.
- The doctor often takes a blood sample or asks for a urine sample. He/she can also take a swab from the area that might be infected (mouth/throat, anus, vagina, urethra).
- The doctor sends the samples to a lab for testing.
- The doctor receives the result of the test about 1 week later.
- The doctor explains the result and talks with you about the next steps. If necessary, he/she will give you medicines to treat the STI. Most STIs can be cured or their symptoms can be treated.

Nëse mendoni se ju mund të keni një IST, mund të testoheni nga një mjek.
Ju lirisht mund të flisni me mjekun. Ai/ajo ka nevojë të ketë sa më shumë informacion të jetë e mundur për të qenë në gjendje t’ju ndihmojë ju. Një mjek nuk mund t’i japë ndonjë informacion për ju dikujt tjetër. Ai/ajo është i detyruar me ligj të respektojë privatësinë tuaj.
Testi për IST
Një test kryhet si vijon:
- Mjeku kontrollon me ju çfarë lloj seksi kryet dhe do ju pyesë rreth ndonjë simptome.
- Mjeku ekzaminon organet seksuale të dukshme tuajat, gojën dhe anusin për të kontrolluar për simptoma.
- Mjeku shpesh merr një kampion gjaku ose kërkon për një kampion urine. Ai/ajo gjithashtu mund të marrin një mostër me tampon nga zona që mund të jetë e infektuar (goja/fyti, anusi, vagina, uretra).
- Mjeku dërgon kampionët në një laborator për ekzaminim.
- Mjeku merr rezultatin e analizave rreth 1 javë më vonë.
- Mjeku shpjegon rezultatin dhe flet me ju rreth hapave të ardhshëm. Nëse është e nevojshme, ai/ajo do ju japë ilaçe për të trajtuar IST-në. Shumica e IST-ve mund të kurohen ose simptomat e tyre mund të trajtohen.
