PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) is a treatment with HIVmedicines after unprotected sexual contact and the justified suspicion of possibly being infected. The treatment reduces the risk of an HIV infection. The treatment has to start within 3 days of the risky contact.

Die PEP (Postexpositionsprophylaxe) ist eine Behandlung mit HIV-Medikamenten nach ungeschütztem sexuellen Kontakt, und dem begründeten Verdacht, sich möglicherweise infiziert zu haben. Die Behandlung reduziert das Risiko einer HIV-Infektion. Die Behandlung muss innerhalb von drei Tagen nach einem riskanten Kontakt beginnen.
